THE EAS IN BRIEF

The Entrepreneurs Association of Slovakia, (official abbreviation “EAS”) is the first organisation of private entrepreneurs in modern history of Slovakia, established in December 1989, one month after the “Velvet Revolution” in November 1989. The EAS is a decisive representative of private sector not existing in Slovakia before 1989.

The EAS focuses its activities on crucial issues of creation and guaranteeing of favourable business environment without exceptions and privileges. The EAS is a founding member of an umbrella organization of employers, The National Union of Employers, representing businesses employing 275 000 employees and generating 60 % of Slovak GDP.

Since March 1, 1993 the EAS is a member of the European Confederation of Associations of Small and Medium – Sized Enterprises in Brussels. The president of the EAS represents Slovak employers in the European Economic and Social Committee, which is the advisory body to the European Parliament and the European Commission.

The EAS is a non-profit organization that is financed from its beginning exclusively by voluntary contributions of its members as well as by local and foreign corporate and individual donors.

The EAS represents both its individual and collective members from various sectors of the Slovak economy (e.g. leasing, electronics, information technologies, tourism, cement and lime production, furniture production, construction, transportation, food industry, etc.). Its membership consists of more than 700 individual companies employing about 20 000 employees.

THE EAS FUNDING

The EAS is from its beginning a non-profit organization that is financed exclusively by voluntary contributions of its members and by local and foreign corporate and individual donors.

Among institutions that supported the EAS in its activities there are e.g. Friedrich Neumann Foundation, Centre of International Private Enterprise (CIPE), the National Agency for Small And Medium Sized Enterprises, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and Slovak financial institutions (e.g. Slovak Savings Bank, Slovak Insurance Company, General Credit Bank, Union insurance company, etc.).
